Air Conditioner Safety

Air Conditioner Safety

As we have previously discussed a central air conditioner can draw a lot of power, and for this reason there are a number of safety checks involved in your system. We are going to discuss the breakers and fuse panels associated with your system and why they are employed. Air Conditioner Safety Systems First off usually in your basement or closet of your home you will find a whole home fuse box. This is most often either a 100 or 200 amp service. Your central air conditioner will have a breaker in this fuse panel. Having your system professional installed will ensure that a correctly sized maximum fuse or breaker is used. The MOP or maximum over current protection needs to be installed according to the size of air conditioner you need for your home. In addition to that your homes air conditioner will likely have a safety disconnect outside near to where the actual unit sits. This disconnect is always installed on new installations and reduces the chance of people working on the AC while the power is live. Severe injuries can occur if the system starts up with a technician is working on an air conditioner. Locking Your Air Conditioner Safety Disconnect The outdoor disconnect is vulnerable to pranks as it is outside and out of sight. Simply opening the door and flipping the breaker will completely turn your central air conditioner off; we always recommend you check both breakers before calling a technician if your air conditioner is not running. If you are having troubles with someone flicking your breaker off outside you can put a small lock on the box preventing any unlawful access. If your central air conditioner is not working check BOTH circuit breakers, one at your homes main panel and the other at the lockout box located outside on the wall beside your unit. Should your air conditioner still not work after resetting both fuses it might be best to call a technician. Our service department call center is trained to go over a few additional checks with the home owner in an attempt to negate a full service call. Give us a call today (647) 925...

Reliance Air Conditioner Prices

Reliance Air Conditioner Prices

The Reliance air conditioner side of the company is quite large.  In fact Reliance is probably one of the few recognizable names for HVAC equipment in Ontario. There are some pros and cons associated with being one of the biggest players and we’re here to discuss. First off give us a call (647) 925-1930 or fill out our contact form and we will give you a free quote, at least you have a comparison now. The Reliance air conditioner part of the business can rent, finance, or sell you a unit just the same as we can. Reliance uses air conditioners manufactured by Carrier, Amana, and Goodman.  This is similar to us but we also have Lennox systems. The problem is that Reliance is a large company with a lot of overhead, yes they buy a lot of air conditioners and probably get them a bit cheaper than we would due to volume, but maybe they push them out to homes where they aren’t a great fit. Maybe we pay a little more and don’t get bulk discounts but we always order the exact model and size your home needs. I don’t know if Reliance has bad customer service but it’s possible our smaller sized company has a better chance of treating customer better and more efficiently.  Like I said earlier, give us a call and give Reliance a call, get two quotes and choose the company that you feel the most comfortable with.  Don’t forget that by comparing quotes you can know for sure you’re not being “ripped off”. We are confident in our prices and our staff, so don’t just stop at Reliance Air conditioners, call and get quotes from other HVAC companies as...

One Last Season For Your Air Conditioner

One Last Season For Your Air Conditioner

If repairing your central air conditioner will get you through one last season here in Ontario then this might be the one to try.  Call our central AC repair team who have been trusted for years by homeowners throughout Toronto and the GTA. We are certified to make air conditioner repairs on top brands like Trane, Carrier, Bryant, Lennox, Amana, Goodman, and many more. As we all know this winter has been a bit on the extreme side of things compared to last season.  Currently as I type this the great lakes have 92% ice coverage, this is way higher than anything we have seen in the last 35 years.  Forecasters are suggesting that the deep cold and abundance of moisture (ice and snow currently) will contribute to a cooler damp summer season.  This of course lends to the idea that making it through one more season with your current central air conditioner might be a good plan, and it could be. Give us a call (647) 925 – 1930  to have your central air inspected and serviced to maintain your warranty and ensure proper efficient working order before the summer heat hits us. Regardless of whether you as a homeowner or small business owner is looking to purchase a new air conditioner or have your existing system repaired, we have exactly what you are looking for.  We can also install your new system, fix a broken AC, or even organize regular maintenance to maintain warranty. Toronto’s Home Air Conditioning can provide premium air conditioners, furnaces, water heaters, water softeners, and any other HVAC system required at affordable prices. When consulting us for assistance we always take into account your needs, budget, and time frame so you can make an informed decision.   Fill Out Our Contact Form and Have One Of Or REPS Call You (647) 925 – 1930 Contact Form Name (Required) Phone Number (Required) E-Mail Your Message Prove You're Not A Spaming Robot: What is 2 -...

How To Get A Deal On A New Central Air Conditioner

How To Get A Deal On A New Central Air Conditioner

This should be an interesting post as I am offering up ways for people to spend less and get a deal on a new central air system which ultimately reduces my bottom line… I’m sure a lot of people interested in a new central air conditioner in the Greater Toronto Area are going to do some research regarding installation companies.  I completely respect that and in fact would do the exact same thing.  But, to get a great deal on an air conditioner doing some research is a great idea.  There are definitely some companies within Toronto and surrounding areas that are more than willing to take advantage of home owners. Here’s how you can protect yourself. Steps To Get A Deal Get multiple quotes (I’m thinking at least 3) Negotiate (there is always a little bit wiggle room but be realistic) Apply for all applicable grants and rebates Package multiple systems. Call me In depth Steps On Making Your Air Conditioner Deal Quotes –  You should definitely be looking at  at least 3 quotes from competitors.  Make sure that you really look at the models they are offering and compare apples to apples.  I would never take the lowest quote, simply throw that one away, you’re almost guaranteed a bad install as the contractor will cut corners in order to make money off the sale. Negotiate – A new central air conditioner may cost between 2 and 5 thousand dollars and the market is highly competitive.  100% truth here, the margins on these systems have dropped significantly over the last 10 years.  We used to make 7 or 8 hundred dollars on a sale but now we are lucky to be netting 50 to 100 dollars in profit.  If you are able to knock a 100$ off your new central air quote consider yourself a great bargainer. Grants and Rebates – This probably where most homeowners will make the best inroads when looking to drop the price.  If your contractor isn’t offering or educating you on available air conditioner rebates then its time to move on.  I’m not going to offer any numbers as the rebates change every so often, roughly 250 to 500 dollars is possible. Multiple...

Hilarious Creepy and Weird Air Conditioner Video

Hilarious Creepy and Weird Air Conditioner Video

This is one of those videos that is an actual commercial played in a Country with a bit more relaxed television rules. The video quickly starts out weird and strange but rapidly works its way over to the dark side, teetering on the verge of disturbing.  Basically there is some creeper peering out the window of his air conditioned home who is imagining that sun screen is gasoline and what would happen when it caught fire.  Yep, there is a full on guy burning in this commercial.  And you thought the heat waves were bad here in Toronto. As it turns out the ad is for BGH which is an Air conditioner company touting its ability to keep creeps indoors during the heat wave. Check out the video....
